THE MINISTRY

Founded on October 01, 2011, JUDAH Fellowship Christian Church was created to be more than a worship experience with the goal of bringing the gospel out of the walls of the church and into the world. Judah Fellowship is intentionally missional in its approach to reach the lost, the broken, the needy, and those who would otherwise be left for dead. The church exists simply to further the work and mission of Jesus Christ through outreach and social justice as we seek to break down the walls of bigotry, intolerance, and hatred in our community. Judah Fellowship Christian Church is centered on the belief that salvation and acceptance in the kingdom of God is a free gift that is open to all and therefore must be shared to all, regardless of who they are.

JFCC MISSION

To glorify God and enjoy God’s spirit, power, majesty, and above all LOVE forever; and then in turn be conduits of that same power and love to ALL of God’s people as we seek to further the work of Jesus Christ. John 3:16; Matthew 28:18-20

JFCC VISION

Intentionally created to be different, Judah is a body where truly anyone can feel accepted with a sense of belonging and purpose. Intentionally formed to meet the growing needs of those who seek to worship God in spirit and in truth in an radically inclusive charismatic environment. JUDAH exists simply to further the work and mission of Jesus Christ through outreach and social justice as we seek to break down the walls of bigotry, intolerance, and hatred in our community. Judah is open to the moving of God and the grace of God as we fulfill our core mission. Judah is affirming of the call of God to receive all who would have an open ear to hear truth.

ABOUT OUR PASTOR

Conference Convener ~ Rev. Shanea D. Leonard, Pastor JUDAH Fellowship

Rev. Shanea D. Leonard, B.A., M.Div. is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries who has been preaching the gospel message her entire life. Rev. Leonard, a native of Philadelphia, received her B.A. in Religious Studies & Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh and her M.Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.  She has been serving congregations in various capacities for over twelve years. Pastor Leonard has done extensive work with urban congregations while working to eradicate systemic oppression in the areas of race, gender, and sexual orientation. She has spent time doing mission ministry in Mexico, Africa, and the Dominican Republic. Rev. Leonard believes that God has given her a burden for people whom others have disregarded, oppressed, forgotten, or simply don’t even see.  She believes strongly in the radically inclusive love of Jesus Christ that states WHOSOEVER is willing is welcomed at the table of fellowship and offered the gift of salvation and acceptance. It is because of her call to ministry that she carries out her assignment as pastor & founder of JUDAH Fellowship Christian Church.

Pastor Leonard is also the founder and moderator of the Pittsburgh Clergy Consortium, the city’s inter-faith cohort of faith leaders and clergy who have an affirming theology towards advocacy for the LGBTQIA community.  Shanea also serves other organizations as the past chair of New Voices Pittsburgh, member of the Pennsylvania State ACLU Board of Directors, and Mayor Peduto’s LGBTQIA Advisory Council. She is also member of various other boards and committees around Western Pennsylvania.   Pastor Leonard is an often quoted media contributor and an active faith voice in the nationwide Black Lives Matter Movement, Pittsburgh chapter.  Shanea is also the founding director of Diversity Consulting, an organization that focuses on the education of individuals and groups around intersectional advocacy and issue based leadership in the areas of race, gender, and sexual orientation. Rev. Leonard has received many outlets of recognition including commendations from the mayor’s office and most recently the 2015 Innovation in Ministry Award from the National Black Presbyterian Caucus. Rev. Leonard has a deep love for all people, a passion for social justice, and a special connection to youth; but her greatest passion is for those closest to her-her godchildren Chauncey and Natalya.
